Full Moon Mojo – The Snow Moon (February)

February’s Full Moon (24/2/24) is typically called The Snow Moon, most likely because of the cold weather we often associate with this time of year, especially in some parts of the world.

As the days start to get slightly longer we might also start to notice very, very early signs of Spring, which can act as a reminder that better days are coming. If you’ve been going through a particularly tough time lately, you might feel reassured that this offers hope that the past is where it is, and a fresh start is on the horizon.

As with other Full Moons, it can also be known by other names, The Old Farmer’s Almanac offers several examples including The Eagle Moon and The Bear Moon.

The Full Moon is often recognised as a time for rituals, with traditions including a time to decide what we want (or don’t want).

You might use this time of the month to reflect on how the year has started for you so far, and what, if any, changes you’d like to make. It’s not so much about setting goals perhaps (you can do this around a New Moon, if you want), but you can use the time to think think about what you want more (or less) of in your life.

Don’t forget, you can also put your crystals out in the light of the full moon to recharge them.

Spirituality and Health suggest a blanket ritual (which also includes a guided meditation* and a form of protection activity*), beginning with a similar idea to the concept of Hygge, where we begin by making ourselves cosy, by a fire or light a candle, maybe even using a hot water bottle. (Incidentally, you can also view fireplaces, if you don’t have one, on streaming channels like YouTube, see an example below*).

“Sit beside” a cozy fireplace if it helps, like in this YouTube video.

For some people around the time of a Full moon, dreams can be quite intense especially if strong emotions come to the surface. I mention in Answers In The Dark that keeping a dream diary can be a great way of spotting patterns in your dreaming so that you can prepare for your dream content (and a healthy action plan) as the Full Moon arrives.

*Only do activities if they feel right for you. Always check before you invest.
