Full Moon Mojo – The Worm Moon (March)

This month’s Full Moon (25/3/24) is usually known as The Worm Moon. You might think that’s a bit ew – unless you love worms of course – but it makes sense, because this moon can symbolise Spring, and a time for renewal. As with all Full Moons it’s a time to let go, and a time to let in. It can also be a great time to focus on the garden if you have one.

That doesn’t necessarily mean we should rush out to plant seeds literally – March itself is an unpredictable month, with sunshine one day and snow the next. However it serves as a reminder that everything happens in its own time and its own way. Plan your planting carefully and in accordance with the waxing and waning of the Moon cycle, especially if you grow root vegetables. Some crops are thought to yield better by planting in the 10 days leading up to the Full Moon. You can also plant watery plants – like cucumbers – around the time of the Full Moon itself. This article from Spirituality and Health with insights from Rebecca Beyer gives some fascinating ideas for Moon planting.

As we move into this period of renewal – as spring flowers continue to surface, leaves return to the trees and green spaces around us begin to come back to life, we can also use the Full Moon as a time of thanks and protection. You may choose to use affirmations such as “I live in harmony with nature’s cycles” or “I embrace this period of renewal and possibility”.

The moon gifts us with with its beauty every month as it approaches full and the March moon can seem bigger than usual making it look even more spectacular. You can find other interesting facts about this particular Full Moon, its other names and an interesting alternative to the origin of its meaning via The Almanac here.

Incidentally the Full Moon is meant to be a great time to bake bread!

For some people around the time of a Full moon, dreams can be quite intense especially if strong emotions come to the surface. I mention in Answers In The Dark that keeping a dream diary can be a great way of spotting patterns in your dreaming so that you can prepare for your dream content (and a healthy action plan) as the Full Moon arrives.
