How’s your energy lately? If you’re feeling a little drained, you might appreciate the name of the ‘Beaver’ Full Moon.
Known for its ‘busy-ness’, the beaver is about hard work and effort. So if you’ve been ‘beavering away’ lately (whether through learning or at work, or both), then it makes sense if it’s starting to catch up with you. Being busy can also interrupt our sleep – in Answers In The Dark, I explain that going at 100mph like Roadrunner all day, might mean we try and travel into sleep as fast – potentially impacting dreams or even causing nightmares.
At this time of year, we’re probably not meant to be going full throttle; we’re supposed to slow down and take our foot off the gas. 21st Century living doesn’t always allow for that, but nevertheless it can help to wind down when we can.
Below are some ideas for coping in these busy times, when we probably should be prioritising rest:
🌕 Don’t be afraid to say ‘no’ to Chrimbo parties if you think your energy would be better conserved, curling up with a blanket, with a good book and hot chocolate at home (a real example of Hygge!);
🌕 Lean in to your senses, you might light a scented candle when it’s safe, make yourself a home made soup, or even enjoying a warm bath with your favourite scents;
🌕 Try some mindfulness or meditation if it’s right for you. (There are more relaxation tips in Answers In The Dark).
Above all, give yourself permission to rest, so that when spring comes round, you’ll be ready to sparkle again.
